Portraits of Abuse -
I did this piece after I got out of an unhealthy relationship. I was feeling bad for myself, and I decided I'd make out images of people who I knew who had been abusive. Mostly those who effected me and my family. The biggest image is of myself, because despite all the things I experienced growing up, I was my primary abuser for several years. I hurt myself, and did some damage that no one else could have inflicted upon me. However, I'm also my own greatest ally. Just because someone has been abusive doesn't mean it has to stay that way. I did a 180 (over a period of years, thanks to extreme hard work and much therapy) and I like to think others can do the same. There's always some hope.
