The Walrus Said - This piece has given me such release, I really like the feelings I had doing it and now explaining it to people. It can be looked at religiously, many people see Jesus on the cross and then below the water also, waiting to rise again. I did use Biblical allusions, but I see a young girl on the cross, and my father in the grave, still alive in haunting my dreams and waking terrors.
This piece has a set of three threes, a Biblical allusion to the trinity. I am the oldest of three, so I use that number a lot. There are the three sections: magenta sky, purple night, and blue water. Then the cross, the sun/moon, and the grave, all in one line down the center. Lastly, the three trees on either side of the scene, framing it in. Three nails in the girl, also. Most people favor the god-like face in the sun, but I am always going to lean towards my paintbrushes in the night sky. Either way, this is a beautiful piece that I am very proud of.
