Water Nourishes Wood - This was a piece done for the Heavens Above showing at The Big Top. With the research I did on the zodiac, I found Chinese zodiac interesting, and this piece is based on the idea that Water nourishes Wood, of the five elements: Water, Wood, Metal, Fire and Earth. This painting is one that requires the viewer to looks closer. The magnifying glass holds that example, but a face is also hidden in the tree, and a helping hand hidden in the water.

This piece to me seems very simple, but carries a strong message. Water is life, and it takes care of wood, which houses so much life. Water is a parent to wood, a friend and a lover. I may be stretching here, but I see that, and it’s subtle and true.
